Don't Make These Two Rigging Mistakes

Weight Rigging

Clean Rigged
Most of the development of Swimming SnakeTM lure was done with no weights.

Swimming SnakeTM lure works well at even very low retrieve rates. When bass are more lethargic, low speed presentation allows more time for the bait to entice a feeding or territorial strike. In these conditions we recommend Swimming SnakeTM lure be used with no weight.
Junebug Swimming Snake crank bait lure with no weight
Junebug Swimming SnakeTM lure clean-rigged with no weight allowing slower presentation or near-surface presentation.
Worm Weight Rigged
Different actions can be achieved using worm weights.

Shallow Depth/Higher Speed Retrieval
By using lightweight worm weights Swimming SnakeTM lure can be retrieved faster while maintaining a certain depth. An eighth ounce worm weight will allow you to retrieve Swimming SnakeTM lure at a medium retrieval speed at around 1-2 feet of depth below the surface.

Medium Depth/Higher Speed Retrieval
Using a 3/16ths ounce worm weight will allow you to use an even higher retrieval rate while maintaining a shallow depth - or it can allow you to apply a lower retrieval speed at slightly higher depths.

Deeper Water Fishing
For fishing in deeper water, heavier weights can be used to get the Swimming SnakeTM lure down quicker and for bottom-swimming or Jerk-bait fishing/bottom-hopping.

Descent Speed

Keep in mind that weights increase the descent speed through the water column. In some conditions the very slow and natural descent speed of an unweighted Swimming Snake will work best.
